‘Without Skyline, I wouldn’t be aiming for University’ Mackenzie, Year 12 2025
Skyline supports talented Year 11 and 12 students like Mackenzie to complete VCE and go on to tertiary education. Without us, our students might otherwise underperform academically or leave school because they can’t afford it, or don’t have role models or mentors to encourage and guide them.
Mackenzie says “Skyline’s support has given me access to resources and opportunities that were once beyond my reach due to financial challenges. Before joining Skyline, accessing essentials like textbooks, a uniform, or tutoring was a constant struggle. Now, these are no longer barriers.
Beyond resources, Skyline has created a sense of belonging. It’s more than just support; it’s a community of peers who understand my circumstances, where I feel heard, valued, and connected in ways I hadn’t before. My Program Manager and Mentors have been my guiding lights through my VCE experience, helping me not just stay on track but also plan a future full of possibilities.
With Skyline’s encouragement, I’ve dared to achieve things I wouldn’t have thought possible. For example, they introduced me to the Hansen Scholarship and supported me throughout my application process. Without them, I might never have known about it, much less had the confidence to aim for such an opportunity. Now, as I work towards my goal of studying a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, Skyline is instilling in me the courage to dream bigger and reach higher.
Skyline hasn’t just given me material support; it’s helped me believe in myself, pushing me to explore opportunities I never thought I’d be fortunate enough to experience. Their impact on my life has been profound and immeasurable.”
It starts here. Mackenzie’s story shows us the power you have to change a future and unlock the potential of students like her.
We are aiming to raise $150,000 to continue our work. Please help us.
Thank you for supporting the Skyline community and helping fuel the future of students like Mackenzie.
