Thanks to Skyline, Leila is now studying Biomedicine

“Thanks to Skyline, Leila is now studying Biomedicine at Melbourne University and living on campus at Janet Clarke Hall”, Donna, Mum to Leila, Year 12 2024. Skyline supports academically high-ability Year 11 and 12 students, such as Leila, to complete their VCE and pursue tertiary education. Many of our students come from rural and regional areas, where the challenge of preparing for university is often greater than that faced by those in the city.

Leila’s Mum, Donna, says, “Skyline provided our daughter Leila with invaluable guidance, opportunities, and the confidence to dream big.

Leila was quite shy and hesitant to leave home in regional Victoria to pursue her studies in Melbourne. Although the residential camps were challenging for her at first, they offered her a glimpse of Melbourne campus life, and over time, she became more at ease.

In her final year of the program, she received encouragement to attend a Janet Clarke Hall Literature Dinner. I recall picking her up at the end of the night; she was positively glowing with confidence and excitement at the prospect of living and studying on campus the following year.

Her outlook changed dramatically, thanks to the Skyline program, its mentors, and their encouragement and support.”

It starts here.  Leila’s story shows us the power you have to change a future and unlock the potential of students like her.

We are aiming to raise $150,000 to continue our work.
