Celebrating 2024
As we close out 2024, we’re delighted to share the accomplishments of our students. Thanks to our generous supporters, we’ve continued supporting 160 students in our core selective program, while our social enterprise, Skyline Hatch, reached over 5,000 students.
Class of 2024
Of this year’s 77 graduates, five were named Dux of their schools, with many earning full residential scholarships to leading universities. Among them, Keely Xia from Dandenong High School received the prestigious Hansen Scholarship, joining past recipients Haisong Qi and Chelsea Wiramanaden from the Class of 2023. We’re incredibly proud of Keely and can’t wait to see her thrive!
Class of 2026 Applicants
Now more than ever, the work that we do is crucial. The rising cost of living, coupled with an ever-changing social, political and economic landscape, means that more and more high-ability students are falling between the cracks. Of the 138 applications received from year 10 students to join our program in 2025, 70% were assessed to be living on or below the 2019 ACOSS poverty line. Over 30% of applicants had a disability or long-term medical condition, and over 20% come from an abusive living environment. All these students deserve a future.
We welcomed 80 of these wonderful young people to commence in Year 11 in 2025. Despite their individual experiences with adversity, they join our 80 Year 12 students in remaining optimistic and cheerful, a kind reminder for us to keep working towards a better world.
Thanks to our Partners and Supporters
We’re so grateful to our many partners and supporters, including MECCA, the Hansen Little Foundation, the Wood Foundation, the Dawn Wade Foundation, the Zig Inge Foundation, the Geelong Community Foundation, the Anthony Costa Foundation, and the Department of Education and Training. Thank you also to the Cairnmillar Institute, the National Gallery of Victoria, Campion, Edrolo, HEX, Lander & Rogers, and the Institute of Inquiring Minds. All in all, 2024 has been a year of progress. We’re proud of where we’ve come from, and we’re excited to show you where we’re going.
We’re immensely proud of every student we’ve had the privilege to support this year and can’t wait to see what comes next for them. Thank you for being a part of this vital mission.
An Evening with The Hon. Julia Gillard AC
We are immensely proud of our remarkable students and alumni who shared their personal stories and achievements, reminding us of the life-changing impact of the Skyline program. You inspire us all!
Special thanks to Allison Gibson, CVS Lane Capital Partners, Stellan Capital Partners and of course our MC for the evening, Andrew Cohen of For Health. Thank you for standing with us. Together, we are shaping futures and transforming lives.
Looking ahead, Skyline is focused on:
Expanding Student Support: Increasing access to our Program to support more high-ability students facing social and economic challenges.
Enhancing Skyline Hatch Offerings: Developing new programs to promote educational equity and meet the evolving needs of Victorian students.
Your support is vital in helping us achieve these goals. Together, we can create a brighter future for the young individuals in our community. We appreciate every contribution, no matter the size, and are grateful for all of your help thus far.
Thank you for being an integral part of the Skyline community. We look forward to sharing more updates in the New Year as we continue to make a difference, one student at a time. Wishing you and your loved ones a festive season filled with peace and joy.
