UPDATE FROM THE CHAIR
Dear Skyline Patrons and Supporters
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jane Sydenham-Clarke to the inaugural role of CEO of the Skyline Education Foundation following an intense six month organisational design and growth effort by the Skyline board and staff. Jane brings a rich history of CEO expertise across many and diverse high profile portfolios and organisations, and she is passionate about our students already. I truly believe that this is a brilliant opportunity for Skyline to continue to grow in line with our strategic plan, under the stewardship of a highly experienced and recognised community leader. Jane will be working initially at a 0.6FTE time fraction and commenced the week of 21 May.
James Orloff has resigned as a Director following three years of valuable service as a member of the board. James was instrumental in gaining the critical financial backing for the Geelong pilot and he continues to be a generous and ardent supporter of our students. Whilst we will miss his wisdom on the board, we look forward to continuing our relationship with James into the future. At the same time we welcomed Alistair Mytton as a new Director and Chair of our Governance, Risk and Finance Committee. Alistair was most recently the Head of Risk Assessment and Assurance at BHP Billiton, and brings a depth of audit, financial performance planning and accountability which is so important for us as we grow.
Your investment and confidence in Skyline continues to be highly valued and acknowledged by our students, their parents and their schools – including the 71 students currently being supported by you. The major impact of your generous support is that we are able to steadily increase the number of student scholarships annually, with the comfort of knowing that we have sufficient funds in the bank to ensure that our students can be supported to complete their VCE years. The link below has three of our students talking about their experience – if you have five minutes I highly recommend that you hear from them what the program is about and how it has impacted their lives. They are such a positive group to be associated with.
I sincerely thank those of you who have been with us over many years, who have faithfully been there for us while we were growing. I also gratefully acknowledge our slightly newer patron supporters, including Tina and Michael Reddrop and Peter and Areti Arvenitis, our inaugural financial patrons, who are advocating for us amongst their friends and colleagues to bring a new level of investment and support to our students. I truly look forward to a bright new era for Skyline. I like to think that, were he still here, John Cheetham would be proud of the number of students Skyline supports and the ever improving quality of the program he began over ten years ago.
On behalf of the Skyline board, staff and patrons, I look forward to seeing you all at the Chair’s Reception where you can meet Jane and be inspired by more of our students’ stories.
